Timing is Everything: When to Lay Your Resin Bound Driveway (and When to Hold Off)

You've chosen the perfect colour and a top-notch resin, but the crucial next step for your resin bound driveway or patio in Ireland is timing. Weather conditions are paramount for a successful installation and long-lasting finish.

When to lay:

The ideal conditions are dry, mild weather, typically with temperatures between 5°C and 25°C. Crucially, no rain should be forecast for at least 24-48 hours before, during, and after installation to ensure proper curing. Lower humidity is also beneficial. Spring and late summer to early autumn often provide these optimal windows in Ireland.

When not to lay:

Avoid installation during rain, frost, or excessively cold temperatures (below 5°C). Moisture is resin's biggest enemy during the curing process, leading to bubbling, cloudiness, and compromised strength. Equally, extremely hot weather (above 25°C) can cause the resin to cure too quickly, making it difficult to achieve a smooth, even finish. High winds can also be problematic, blowing debris onto the wet surface. A reputable installer, like Resco.ie, will always assess the forecast and advise on the best time for your project.
