Correct Sub-base for Permeable Solution’s/ Driveways

For a SUDS-compliant, permeable resin bound driveway, the sub-base is critical to ensure proper drainage and long-term durability. The best option is a well-compacted sub-base of non-frost susceptible in Ireland called T2 Permeable which is certified.
Unlike Aggregates Types, which contains more "fines" (small particles) that can impede water flow, T2 Permeable is a clean aggregate with no fines. This allows water to pass through freely and drain into the ground below, which is the key to a successful SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) installation.
The sub-base is the foundation for the entire driveway, so it must be solid and stable. This is typically achieved by excavating to the required depth, laying down a geotextile membrane to prevent weeds and stabilise the ground, and then compacting the T2 Permeable aggregate with a vibrating plate.
While some people may use existing concrete or a different type of tarmac as a base, a new permeable base using T2 Permeable Aggregate is the recommended approach for a fully SUDS- compliant resin bound driveway that will last for years to come. And support your resin bound surfacing.
